Way Back Home
Way Back Home offers the viewers to participate in a drawing performance based on one of the traditional children's game played in Korea, 땅따먹기 (Land Grabs).
First, each participant draws his or her home by making a half circle using thumb and middle finger as compass. From the home, the participant flicks a stone or similar small object outward and marks the spot that it landed. From that spot, the participant tries to flick the stone back home. If successful, the area covered becomes the participant's homeland and if not, the stone "dies." Two participants take turns exploring and turning back home.
The drawings featured were the result of three sessions. For these sessions, a traditional rice paper and sumi ink were used. The participants used fingers to mark spots and draw lands.
