Virtual Taxidermy II
Second installment of the Virtual Taxidermy sculptures series follows the similar process of creating, dismembering and recreating a strange creature. From a normal map (an image used in 3D modeling texturing for the computer rendering engines to calculate topography/depth of the surface) I printed a custom patterned lycra fabric and constructed a soft sculpture. The multiple translation processes (designing, 3D modeling, texture creation and physical construction) resulted in a curious final product.
